Last years AFLW season was Epic but 2018 is going to be Iconic!

We absolutely loved having Epic Pharmacy support the Brisbane Lions AFLW team during the inaugural AFLW season.  We rode the highs and lows alongside them, from their very first practice match where it was obvious just how competitive these girls were going to be, cheered them on through their undefeated season and shed a few tears with them after their narrow defeat in the grand final.

We were one of the very first sponsors to sign up for the new league last year, and it was wonderful to see Chemist Warehouse sign on as sponsors of the overall competition and then renew that commitment this year.  The AFL has very strict rules around sponsorships from the same industry,and even though Epic operates in a different pharmacy market sector to Chemist Warehouse, in conjunction with the Lions we’ve decided to update our sponsorship for season two to now come from Epic’s parent company Icon Group.

Icon Group shares similar workforce stats with Epic, with over 80% of our 2500+ team comprised of women.  The links between health and sports participation are also well recognised, and it’s wonderful to continue to be able to support the fantastic female role models that the Lions AFLW team members have proven to be.

It was great to see the latest Lions AFLW team members sporting their brand new shirts with the Icon Group logo last week.  The girls definitely delivered an Epic first season, and we’re looking forward to an Iconic season 2018!
