We’re so thrilled to announce that Epic Pharmacy are the principal sponsorship partner of Brisbane’s new Women’s Big Bash League team Brisbane Heat.
This is the inaugural season for the Women’s Big Bash League, which will run alongside the Men’s Big Bash League over December and January.
BBL is my absolute favourite form of cricket, its fast, furious and most of all fun, and we’ve enjoyed many great nights as a family at Twenty20 matches.
Stuart and I didn’t have to think twice when Queensland Cricket approached us about this partnership as it was a great fit on so many levels. As a healthcare company we’re all about promoting the lifestyle benefits that regular physical activity delivers, and when you add to that the fact that 82% of our workforce is female, supporting women’s sport just adds up.
Our other partnerships with the Queensland Firebirds netball team, and the Brisbane Lions Women of the Pride initiative have been embraced by the Epic team, and we’re sure they’ll welcome the Heat just as warmly.
In addition to the obvious benefits that sponsorship dollars deliver, we also felt that we’d be able to add value by offering the women on the team access to networking and mentoring opportunities. Unlike many of their male counterparts, life as a professional sports person doesn’t deliver an income that allows them to focus purely on their sport and the majority of the team are juggling studying or working in addition to their training and playing commitments.
The team are joining us at the Brisbane Business Chicks breakfast with Carolyn Cresswell next month and I’m sure they’ll enjoy not only Carolyn’s words of wisdom but the opportunity to connect with so many other great attendees.
We’re really looking forward to getting to know them and learning more about their hopes and plans for their cricket careers and beyond, and wish them a red hot season in this first ever WBBL – and let’s keep in mind our female cricketers were the ones who did bring the Ashes home from the UK earlier this year!
