Oktoberfest 2014 #throughglass

Here in Germany, Oktoberfest has officially started, so it’s time to don the dirndls and lederhosen and head out to join in the fun.

We arrived to find a street parade in full swing, with brass bands, no shortage of traditional costumes, and decorated horse drawn carts.

As one of the bands passed, Stuart swung Sascha into a quick dance. Luckily, I was wearing Glass and snapped this great picture before the horrified tween broke away from her totally embarrassing dad!

Once the parade was over we headed for the Hoffbrau Haus for lunch. Stuart and I started dating at a friend’s birthday at the Hoffbrau House in Melbourne, so it’s always a compulsory stop on a visit to Munich (Sam took over my Glass to take this pic)!

As you would expect, it was packed. There was music, murals and people everywhere.

Steins were mandatory photo props, but with Stuart only a week away from the Berlin marathon and beer being a long way from my favourite drink, that was all they were today.

After lunch the kids were keen to find the gingerbread hearts they had seen loads of other kids wearing, which didn’t prove to be the greatest of challenges!

After wandering through Marienplatz, with music, crowds and lederhosen as far as the eye could see, Sam declared ‘Oktoberfest is Epic,’ and we all happily agreed.
