Dior created the most extraordinary delphinium mountain at Cour Carrée at the Louvre in Paris to show their SS16 collection, & Sascha and I were fortunate enough to be there and be part of the day.
The fun started as soon as we arrived, with cameras flashing as we exited the car and release forms thrust at us to sign for the use of the images. Sascha’s decision to team her Quay Australia sunglasses picked up at Topshop in London on Monday with her dress proved to be a stroke of genius as she got numerous calls of one of the few French terms she’d learned (‘Are you a model?’) & posed up a storm.
We got our first glimpse of the delphinium covered fabulousness as we waited for the doors to open, entertaining ourselves with a bit of celebrity & fabulous outfit spotting.
Once we were through the gate the full magnitude of the structure was revealed, and we joined the throngs of guests posing for pictures in front of it.
We entered through the flower tunnel, & were thrilled to find we were in the slightly elevated 3rd row which gave us a brilliant view of both the runway & the action.
While Sascha may have been one of the younger guests in attendance, she had years on this super cool little dude in the row in front of us!
Rihanna’s arrival created quite the buzz, & she looked absolutely incredible in an insane Dior coat. Sascha did her best to say a quick hello only to be rebuffed by one of her enormous bodyguards, but was rewarded with a straight down the barrel smile from Rhianna as she took a quick picture.
Then it was time for the show to begin, and I’ve included a few of my favorite looks here. I loved the new shoe style too, and am so pleased Raf is sticking with ankle recovery friendly styles rather than luring me back into the stiletto danger zone!
Ever since I saw the ‘Dior & I’ movie I’ve been obsessed with the flower covered rooms used to show Raf’s first haute couture collection for Dior, so on a day where we got to experience another beautiful floral display I was beyond excited to spot one of my favorite’s from the film, Raf’s right hand man Pieter Mulier, on the way out.
After a few more happy snaps with the delphiniums it was time to leave the building & try and track down our driver, where the fun & frivolity continued as traffic was literally stopped while Lena Perminova conducted an impromptu photo shoot in the middle of the street.
Thank you Dior for a truly magical experience, and one Sascha and I will never forget. We truly j’adore Dior.
Loved reading this. I really enjoyed ‘Dior and I’ because of weirdly how candid and down to earth it was! You realise how much honestly is in the production chain as opposed to the fast fashion products of a forced cheap labour.
That heel is very sensible. I will be looking out for the anorak…..
What a fabulous day!
